One of the ironies among the uncoded prescripts of moral justice is that greed, which constantly seeks increase and is rarely content with abundance, ends up by decreasing the greedy. Both men and nations trivialize themselves by lusting so hard for power, gold, possessions or advantage, that their intellect and spirit become blunted, there is no longer joy in the game, and ultimately they have nowhere to go but down.
“Reduction by Greed” from the book “Trivializing America” (1983)
