I am inaugurating a feature that I hope you will enjoy: The Norman Corwin Quote of the Week. Although many of Corwin’s works were written specifically for the ear, contained in his writings are excerpts that stand the test of time. Carefully chosen phrases and images that still inspire, make us pause and wonder, and challenge us to confront the important issues of our times.
These quotes will come from radio scripts spanning 1938 to 1999, books such as Overkill and Megalove, and Trivializing America, as well as quotes given directly to me in our 2004 filmed interview, the basis for the DVD The Poet Laureate of Radio.
Norman Corwin sometimes feared that he had “written on water.” Let’s work to keep his memory and his words alive.
